Peace by All Means

Ever take the time to consider all the things that God tasks Himself to do for us? He must be very busy answering our various prayers and meeting our individual needs. And yet, it’s pleasant to realize that all of these demands on His time are not stressing Him out.

One aspect of our lives that He personally oversees is our peace. In one of Paul’s benedictions, he offers, “Now the Lord of peace Himself give you peace by all means.” (2 Thessalonians 3:16). Here we are reminded that God Himself takes on the job of granting our peace. The first peace is a peace with God. We are no longer enemies of God because we’ve been reconciled through the work of Christ. The second peace is the peace of God. We can experience the tranquility and calmness of God’s Spirit in our own spirit.

And God accomplishes this Himself, always and by all means. He uses whatever manner, way, or fashion necessary to grant us peace. This can come through a word from a family member or friend. It can arrive through a line of Scripture or a song. It can be read through a tweet or a text. God is not limited in His methods of delivery.

What a wonderful reminder: God Himself always uses whatever means necessary to grant us His peace and tranquility!
