In this passage, Peter shares about that glorious occasion in Jesus’ earthly ministry when His body was transfigured into His glorious, heavenly body-shining-bright. But then Peter elevates something more dependable than this amazing event.
“We have a more sure word of prophecy; by which you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.” What shines sure in this dark world? The Word! This secure word of prophecy is so valuable that we need to take heed and pay attention to its message.
The Word shines like a beaming light in a dark place. And this Word has the promise or growing, expanding, and overtaking the darkness.
