Is understanding naturally connected to light? Does light shine upon an issue or task, illuminating its nature and helping the learner to grow? And what about comprehending that most vital of all subjects…knowing God?
Ephesians 1:18 offers, “-the eyes of your understanding being enlightened…” My ability to comprehend God is a combined effort of both the Spirit and the Son. Jesus became human, making God attainable. And the Spirit enlightens our minds, causing us to see the value in the finished work of Christ.
With the lights turned on by the Spirit, I can see the path that Jesus forged back to the Father. Enlightenment leads to reconciliation. Beautiful!
