Teen years can be tough. Many teens battle loneliness, peer pressure, changing hormones, and the stress of fears and expectations. For me? The pain of adolescence was eased by Psalm 27.
I found that the whole psalm is like a battle plan for the human life. But it begins with a simple declaration: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” This week, I want to focus on the first half of this amazing promise.
God Himself is my light. His presence, His Word shines not only into the dark corners of my heart and mind, but also into the dark unknown of my future and future decisions. I can confidently declare that throughout my teen years and throughout my life, the LORD has been my light.
The complexities of life become less intimidating when illuminated by the light of Who God is and by the power and comfort of His Word. Lighting my life with God is a wise move. May I ever embrace His light!
