Is it true? Do some people actually cover up those areas in their lives that truly and purely shine? Is it even possible to cover the light of the soul? Apparently yes.
Jesus reminds us, “No man, when he has lighted a candle, covers it with a vessel…but sets it on a candlestick, that they which enter may see the light.” (Luke 8:16). This truth from Jesus suggests that it is illogical to light a candle and then hide it under some sort of covering. The point of lighting a candle is to give light. That’s its purpose.
But do people really cover their lights? Do they stifle their creativity? Do they hide truth, goodness, and hope under an exterior of hardness?
May we be bold to reveal that light that illuminates our soul! For me, Jesus is my Light. He shares His creativity with me. And He encourages me to place my light on a candlestick, so that others may be lit by my light.
