I can acquire many new things over a lifetime: new homes, new family, new friends, new opportunities. But what about compassions? Can I gain those anew?
“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning…” (Lam. 3:22,23) God is amazing! He has new, fresh compassion for us each morning. And because He offers us the opportunity to receive His new compassion, we can then turn to family, friends, and colleagues and share that fresh compassion with them.
So, acquiring new compassions is a possibility. May we embrace this truth!
