So, how does it happen? How is it accomplished? How does one go about keeping Jesus’ new commandment of love? The answer is simple: Jesus Himself.
“…as I have loved you-love one another.” (John 13:34b) Jesus wants us to love our spiritual family as He loved us. And how did He love us? First, He considered our needs. He gave Himself for our security and future. Second, He loved without ulterior motive…loving us for our own good. Finally, He loved freely. He didn’t love with half His being but gave Himself completely.
So, can we love as Jesus loved? Can we love for the good of others without hidden motives and willingly? That’s loving like Jesus!
